Mongolia's first 5 star resort hotel is scheduled for the soft opening in Fall of 2007. The new Terelj Hotel and Spa is located on the borders of Gorkhi-Terelj National Park and the Khaan Khentii Strictly Protected Area, 50 km north of the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar.
Originally built as a summer camp for the Soviets, the 150,000 sq. foot resort that is reminiscent of an 19th Century country palace will boast 52 luxurious suites, a selection of restaurants, a pool pavilion, spa, conference facilities, and a wedding garden.
Classical moldings, antique furnishings, inlaid marble floors, velvets, chenilles, silks and of course, locally produced cashmere and camel hair, will complement both the public areas and the 52 guest suites. For the ultimate in luxury, the elegant Honeymoon and Presidential suites are extravagantly spacious and exquisitely appointed. Both suites will exceed the expectations of the most discerning guests.
Located near the birthplace of Chinggis (Genghis) Khaan, the "great unifier", the Terelj Hotel Resort and Spa unites traditional and contemporary elements by Mongolian artisans who have been commissioned to create paintings and sculptures for the interior and for the extensive grounds creating a truly unique experience for the discerning traveler.
The resort, perched on a tributary of the Terelj River, takes full advantage of its location in a spectacular valley with eroded rock formations, pine-covered mountains and grasslands carpeted with perennial wildflowers and edelweiss.
