The Weddingparadises.com - interview with:
Mackie Faye Hill,
Simply Unforgettable Events by Mackie

In which year did you start your wedding planning business and which reasons made you start working in this job?
I began my business of February of 2010. As I was receiving my Masters degree in theatre education from New York University I had worked part time for a Broadway event planning company. We designed and coordinated opening and closing celebrations for major Broadway productions as well as the Tony Awards Suppers and satellite parties. After working as an instructor and director of theater I saw a natural connection between directing theatrical productions and designing and coordinating events. My love of creating beautifully themed stories parlayed into creating beautifully themed weddings and events.

Do you work alone or in a team?
Mostly alone, but for larger events I have an amazing assistant and some very trusted vendors.

In which languages can you take care of your customers?
English

What are the main regions where you are planning weddings?
New England and the Mid-Atlantic, as well as Colorado and Oregon.

What are your personal favourites regarding:

a) a location for a destination wedding in your home region?
Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor, ME

Have you organised weddings for prominent people?
No, but I expect to very soon. I have extensive experience in organizing high profile events for large Broadway productions, so high profile events are not new to me.

Have you organised weddings for couples from outside your country?
No, most destination weddings are from other states within the USA.

Which strengths of your company would you like to mention?
The strength my company has is the ability to see outside the box and create very forward thinking events for each couple. As a former theater professional I look at each wedding as an empty stage. I discuss with my bride and groom what their perfect set would be and then build it from there. Having been trained to create visions of wonder from nothing is a talent that is invaluable in this business.

Could you tell us a little story about something special that you have experienced during your work as a wedding planner?
My most recent bride and groom met when they were only 14 years old and have been together ever since. Although they do not live in Maine, they are returning to the place where they first met as children to get married. I accompanied them on their engagement photo session and the love between them that was evident in their photos was extraordinary.

Is there any movie about your work?
